Last weekend, I had the honor of photographing Kali & Clay’s gorgeous fall wedding day in Manchester, Tennessee! Everything about the day was a dream! From the cool fall weather, to the perfect sunset, I was so excited to spend the day doing what I love most!
Kali & Clay have a really special place in my heart for several reasons but there is one particular thing I’d like to share that I have never said to them. Last year after mine & Hunter’s best friend Justin passed away we were both obviously devastated for quite some time. Kali & Clay’s engagement session followed only a few weeks after the loss. The time I spent with them was so refreshing, and I held onto it. Photographing the two of them was one of the very first times I felt pure joy after feeling so much pain.
This October has met me with the same feelings of grief and sadness that I experienced last year. However this past Saturday was like a vacation from the grief. I don’t think Kali & Clay intended for me to enjoy their wedding as much as I did, but that is what happened! It’s hard to feel anything but joy and happiness when you’re around people as sweet as them and their family & friends.
Speaking of joy, I don’t believe I had ever seen a bride more excited to get into her dress than Kali! She was beaming from ear to ear when the moment finally arrived for her to get into her beautiful lace gown. Aside from the dress being obviously gorgeous, there was an incredibly sentimental piece of this dress too. A piece of Kali’s mother’s wedding dress & her father’s handkerchief were sown into the bottom of the gown! How sweet!
Kali & Clay, thank you SO much for having me as your wedding photographer. Your kind spirit and obvious love for one another has been a privilege to witness, and has been a soft place for me to land twice now. I am so grateful for you & I will be wishing many wonderful things for the both of you!
