No normal Wedding Wednesday post today. Instead we’re battling the flu. I do have some encouragement for all the new brides though. Something that you won’t find in a wedding magazine or on your Pinterest board.

The truth is that there are some parts of marriage you will never be prepared for. I didn’t know that when I got married I would one day have a sleepless night where Hunter would lay on me for warmth in hopes of breaking his fever. I didn’t know he would hold me fiercely without fail for what felt like hours during my first panic attack. I didn’t know I’d spend yesterday cleaning vomit off of the floor, walls and every other surface or that just a couple hours later when I started to feel poorly, Hunter would use what little strength he had left to make me peppermint tea. I also didn’t know that last night he would look longingly in my eyes and he didn’t have to say a word, I knew he said thank you. I was sweaty and very tired but he looked at me the same way when he first saw me in my wedding dress. I didn’t know that these things would happen. I am so thankful that they did though.

The truth is that your wedding day will be very beautiful. You will carry moments from that day in your heart forever but it doesn’t even begin to compare to how beautiful your future can be. Believe me, marriage is more beautiful than any picture you will ever find in a magazine. I can honestly say that last night I felt that the two of us were more in love than we were on May 15, 2016. Last night there weren’t any flowers or pretty dresses. There wasn’t a cake or any dancing. We didn’t even share a single kiss. There was only love in it’s purest form. You won’t find that in a wedding magazine, but I sincerely hope you find it in your marriage.
