Aren’t we all a sucker for a good love story? If you answered “Of course!” , you’re in the right place! One of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer is watching couples light up with glee and excitement from the newness from finding the person they will spend the rest of their lives with! It’s an emotion like no other! How they met. How he proposed. I love all of it! I’ll never forget that time in my life while I was dating the guy that I knew I would marry. My couples always end up asking me “What about you & Hunter?” So I decided to share with you the story of us!
Here’s our story of how we went from a church camp fling to wedding rings!

PART 8: MAY 15, 2016

It was Mardi Gras break in the 7th grade. Every year, church youth groups would gather at Camp Living Waters in Robert, LA for a winter retreat. The trees were still bare from winter. The lake glistened as campers kayaked across its shiny surface. It was new, exciting, and I was so glad to be there! This was the very first year I was even old enough to go on trips in the youth group at all! That’s how young I was! A group of my friends & I walked around and casually spoke to all kinds of people (especially boys because we’re preteen girls obviously).
There were many groups of churches from the south Louisiana area. Most of my friends from my church as well as Hunter were all homeschooled in this same area. At first, one of my friends knew and introduced me to Travis, Hunter’s older brother. I had always heard about the infamous Alexander boys. Everyone at my church that was in the same homeschooled group had previously had a crush on one or the other at some point. I didn’t think much of it when someone said, “Hey, I wonder if Hunter is here too.”
We walked back into the gymnasium and I was introduced to Hunter Alexander for the very first time. I’m not sure if it was his massive smile or his Justin Bieber haircut (hello 2009!) but I immediately had to know him. He was (& still is) the cutest guy I had ever seen.
Shortly after our initial introduction, there was a game where groups where separated based on their birthday. Hunter’s was in December but mine was in June. Even though, I was a die hard rule follower, I kept my eye on him at all times & lied about my birthday just so I could spend as much time with him. The next couple of days we spent as much time together as we possible.
We went kayaking together. We sat next to each other during worship services. We may or may not have gotten into trouble for PDA when Hunter tried to wrap his arms around me at the annual bonfire! Later that evening we were with some friends laying down and gazing up at the stars. I’ll never forget praying that I would do anything to stay here under the dreamy night sky with this dreamy guy. Thankfully, God must have heard my prayer because right after that, I saw my very first shooting star.
Any guesses what my one wish was? Spoiler! It came true.
