Catherine and Garrett’s St. Augustine Wedding was an anticipated day by many, including myself! I am so thankful that I was able to be a small part of their love story. It was truly a dream to capture.
The love story of these two started not too far from where their wedding day occurred. On Jacksonville Beach one day Catherine asked Garrett to join in a volleyball game with her. Shortly after, they were dating and would soon fall deeply in love. On December 3rd, 2016 Garrett sent Catherine on a scavenger hunt that ended in him asking her to spend the rest of her life with him. The thoughtful detail that went into the proposal was clearly evident as well on their wedding day!
Before the ceremony the two separately opened gifts from one another and it was so sweet to see their faces light up at their individual gifts. Especially as Catherine began to cry at her new “Mrs. Johns” Saints shirt! Who Dat all the way!
Next, Garrett’s groomsmen all prayed over him then Catherine and her immediate family prayed over her as well. This was probably the most emotional part of the day for me especially as the Hill Family holds a special place in my heart as well as my husband Hunter’s! Catherine’s brother Kyle is Hunter’s long time best friend so not only did sweet Mrs.Eloise practically raise Hunter part time since he was in the second grade , but their love for people has always had a lasting impression on me as well. They are all truly amazing people and it was the sweetest thing for me to be apart of their last few moments together as a family of 5. I have never felt the love of a family more than in that moment.
After the sweet Hill family shared a prayer, Catherine’s bridesmaids prayed over her as well, it was so special to see all the emotion these girls had for their friend. Then, it was time for the two to be married! Catherine & Garrett’s love of God and each other was so clearly visible throughout their wedding ceremony. From the tears they cried and the songs that were sang during communion, I too found myself praising God for him bringing together the couple in a marriage that was made to glorify Him. If I was nervous at all before, hearing my sweet friend & Catherine’s brother Kyle singing sure made me realize my bigger purpose in what I was doing in that moment. Basically, worship songs get rid of all my worries!
The couple’s wedding reception contained just as much joy as the rest of the day! All of Catherine and Garrett’s family and friends gathered to eat, drink, dance and play lots of corn hole in honor of the celebration of marriage that we had all just seen the start of! Here there were a lot more tears and a lot more laughter, which I think we all were thankful for! One of my absolute favorite moments of the night was when Garrett and his groomsmen created a little skit for the garter toss. Catherine’s brother, Corey, hid underneath a table and handed Garrett all kinds of silly props. It was hilarious! This family will never stop laughing that’s for sure! They finished the night off with a wonderful sparkler exit with all of their friends bidding them goodbye, except for Corey who was waiting in the getaway car! He gets the MVP for “wedding day clown” that’s for sure!
Hunter summed it up best at the end of the night by saying , “I felt like I was at my own sister’s wedding!”. Catherine and Garrett, thank you so much for choosing us to be able to love and serve you both & for making us feel like we were apart of the family. Your wedding day will always hold a special place in our hearts!
